Carolyn Smith

I’m Carolyn!

Volleyball has been a huge part of my life; my mother played in college and coached a team when I was in elementary school.  My mom bought me a cheap Old Navy volleyball when I was 10 and I never put it down. I am first and foremost a setter by trade but have played ALL positions.

I started playing club at 11 and continued to play to U18’s in addition to playing all four years of high school. We moved a lot growing up, so I have played under a lot of coaches, learning different coaching styles. All the skills I leaned early on through Gold Medal helped to fuel my success on the court.

After high school I followed in my mom’s footsteps and continued to play in college for CBC, where I even played under Jack Maxwell and was then introduced to the Club Gold family and really began to dabble in my own coaching life. Playing for CBC I was introduced to the world of outdoor and coed volleyball where I have been able to improve my volleyball IQ even further.

I have coached a variety of ages and skill levels as a head coach and assistant coach.  My balancing act I have found is best suited to an assistant coach life, as I haven’t quite hung up my own volleyball shoes just yet. I look forward to another season with the Club Gold family and coaching with Jack.
