Jack Maxwell

I started playing volleyball almost 10 years ago after a friend invited me to an open gym in Kennewick.  It was a fun game and I met some nice people who helped him learn about the game.  One of those players, Bill Brantley, asked me to join his league team in Richland.  It was there after seeing the top team run an in system play that I realized that to play this game you needed to be athletic and very smart, and in that moment I fell in love with the game of volleyball.

A couple years later, I started coaching at Blue Mountain CC as an assistant under Dave Baty and Kari Jones.  A season later I stayed closer to home and became an assistant at Columbia Basin before spending two years as an assistant with Kamiakin High.  My first year of being a head coach was also his first year coaching club with Strikeforce when the coach had to step away from coaching the team at the beginning of the season.   I have a great passion to teach not only the game of volleyball, but all the life lessons that come with playing this very team orientated game.

Joining Club Gold was a great choice for me because of the access to other coaches who were able to help me progress in my ability to coach.  Being able to communicate with this big group of coaches I have come to respect is a really amazing thing to me.  I want to get better every day as a coach so that I can help grow this sport as much as I can in this area.  After a GMS coaching clinic at UW, I came away excited to start the next season and get back to teaching.   I look forward this year to teaching the players the things that will make them successful moving forward and instilling a passion for the game that will keep them playing for a life time.

“The only person you have to be better than, is the person you were yesterday.”  I love this quote and it will be a motto for my team this year.  Through hard work, focus and communication each player be given the opportunity to grow as a player and a person within a team that becomes a family.  I love the competitive nature that Gold Medal Squared practices bring.  The team bonds together in so many ways as they push themselves and each other to be the best possible player and teammates they can be.  I look forward to this season.  Go Gold!!!!
